I don't think I wanna know more than what's already been said...

The rest of the meal passed by leisurely, with each deciding to sample from the other's plate after a while. Froo froo steak didn't seem too incredibly terrible, but it still wasn't a real steak dinner, though David had been right; the seafood was amazing.

Adam had come and gone a few times to check on their progress, but the next time he stopped by, he offered as he picked up their mostly-finished platters, "Would you care for any dessert? We've got excellent tiramisu, an amazing lemon cake, five different flavors of cheesecake, and an explosive chocolate concoction meant to make you melt from the inside out."

Naturally, the blonde perked up at the mention of chocolate, but even she had a hard time resigning herself to remaining. She wanted to get away from the prying eyes of the public, to spend time completely and utterly alone with David. A sudden idea sprang to mind of where to go, and the very prospect of being there with him aided in her decision.

"I think I'm going to pass on dessert, thanks," she stated, then turned her stare to David. "How about you, hon?"

"I'm good. Just bring us the bill." Adam nodded in understanding, and he took off to drop off the dishes in the kitchen. Once the waiter had left, David's eyebrow slowly rose. "You turning down something described as 'explosive chocolate'?" His large hand went to her forehead. "You feeling alright?"

Kaly giggled, swatting his hand away. "I'm fine," she retorted. "I just want to head on out, continue the rest of our night somewhere away from people who can easily interrupt us. Besides, it's not like I can't find something chocolate at home to indulge in later." An impish gleam flashed through her sapphire orbs. "That is, unless you plan on keeping me entirely occupied when we get there."

He smirked, adding with a chuckle, "Well now, you'll just have to wait and see, won't you?" Adam was back at their side, holding out the check presenter and departing yet again. David quickly scanned the bill, his eyes widening slightly at the conclusion of the long list. Kaly leaned over to try catching a glimpse of the grand total, but the Texan quickly set it on his opposite side, out of the prying blonde's reach.

"So, how bad is it?" she asked, realizing she'd never get to actually see the bill.

David had maneuvered to take his wallet out of his pocket in order to pull out a card. "Nothing you need to worry about."

Wincing, Kaly took to reaching for her purse. "I can probably cover half of it."

"Don't even think about it, chica." He set the plastic card in the little folder, then flagged Adam down to hand it off to him. "I got this. I said I'd pay for everyone's meal, and by god, I'm sticking to my word."

She smiled. "If nothing else, I certainly appreciate it. And I promise, less froo froo food, more manly dinners."

Minutes later, after David's card was returned to him, the pair set off out the doors of the restaurant arm in arm. "So, home?" he asked as they neared the Expedition.

"Not yet," Kaly answered. "I wanna make one stop before we go home."

Settling into the vehicle, the blonde made another call to Lanie to check in. Everything was fine there, so she felt more at ease about taking a much longer detour than she had originally decided upon earlier in the day.

It was nearly half an hour later before Kaly turned off the main road, and directed their SUV toward the destination in mind. The Expedition ate up the winding road swiftly after that, and it wasn't too much longer afterward that she parked the vehicle and turned it off.

"We're here. C'mon."

Easily, she climbed out, shutting the driver's side door before rounding behind it to make her way to David's side. He needed no assistance, being the capable individual that he was, of course, but Kaly didn't want to advance any further without him. Once his door had slammed closed, the blonde hooked her arm through the one not holding his cane, guiding him away from the car.

They ventured toward the edge of a grassy clifftop that overlooked the ocean, well outside the city limits. There, the glaring lights of the city were only seen on the far right horizon, and the stars shined spectacularly on that clear night, blinking down from the dark sky with secrets beyond human comprehension. The air held fast to a salty tang that tickled the nose, but hardly tarnished the beautiful spot.

She had not visited this spot in quite some time, not since before that fateful night of the brutal triple threat match that changed everything. She hadn't dared to come back, and she couldn't rightly say if it was because she feared the memories it would dredge up, or if she simply wanted to forget the cliff even existed.

"I used to come up here a lot to think, and to take in the sheer brilliance of this breathtaking view," Kaly stated softly as she took a seat on the grass, patting the spot beside her to invite him down. Once David had complied, she leaned against him, both arms wrapping around one of his, her cheek laid against his shoulder. "It's one of my favorite spots, a sort of sanctuary for the days I just want to be alone. And I wanted to share it with you."

David smiled, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Thank you."

The two fell into a comfortable silence, each getting lost in their own thoughts while listening to the water break against the cliff's base far below, the cry of the nighttime birds and the accompaniment of the crickets adding music to the gentle breeze playing against their bodies.

One more issue plagued Kaly. She had wanted to keep their evening rather drama-free, but with the rapid changes they had been going through, and the ones they were about to face now that they were about to embark on a brand new journey together, she had to voice the fear that had been eating at her the last few days. She would very much like to ignore the entire thing altogether, but she knew it would soon bleed into their lives, causing them far more trouble than they were anticipating.

Softly, she broke the quiet between them. "Do you think he's really back?"
