Gojinn walked towards a window, peering out at the guards around, and the moonlight in the sky. He took a breath and turned to Viper again, this time taking a seat in a nearby chair, aiming to discuss everything with her now.
I know I've been scarce. I'm trying to be that way. You see, when I vanished, it was on everyone's bad side. I'd dug myself a hole and pissed off everyone I could as the Champion- aiming to create rivalries, enemies, rageful battles.. and yet- all I really ended up with was a few people that liked talking more than anything.
He shrugged, continuing on.
So I came back, but I'm trying not to be around, because let's be honest- how many friends could I really have come back to? Sorry- not friends, how many people weren't going to hate me even when I came back? I was sure there would be nothing to come back TO for me, really. I'm avoiding it all, really.
He sighed, running a hand back through his hair, pulling the left side over his ear so he could actually see Viper.
But you asked where I've been. I've been keeping that one more than hidden. I'll give you a short version- because the real one would take weeks, I'm sure.
Grinning, he looked at Viper, who had become somewhat puzzled now. She had already been confused, but a story that would take weeks? Either he had been exaggerating.. or something had really happened.
I'm sure you remember the night?
Viper nodded. Gojinn and The Emerald Flame had battled in an Iron Maiden match. The object: throw your opponent into a spiked egg-shaped casket, and seal them in. Gojinn and Joe hadn't had a big rivalry, or a deep past. Gojinn had simply dreamt the match up to see who would really face him in it, and Joe stepped to the plate, all too ready. The men had beaten one another horrendously, both were bloody and barely able to battle. Yet, in the end, Joe had proven to be the better man that night. He tossed Gojinn in, sealing him into that deadly contraption once and for all. He ended the King's reign. Paramedics rushed to the scene, only to find the lock that had been placed on the Maiden was a fake- a different one than had originally been planned. No key matched it. McKain had been the one to free him, and the paramedics rushed him to the nearest hospital. Doctors rushed to stop the bleeding, and when his heart failed, they managed to restart it. They put him on a tube, and began replacing the bloodloss. Stabilizing him, somehow, Gojinn was placed in a room to recover. The surgery had been relatively fast, and by one o'clock that morning, he was in a drug induced sleep, finally left alone for the night.
That was the last he'd been seen by anyone. The original press conference had revealed that events later that night matched other events where Gojinn had been implicated as a suspect, though never tried or convicted. Later investigation would leave this entire series of events as a Cold Case, never again to be pursued or followed. The only man who had believed in a world beyond the norm, was Detective Weiss, who was told to watch Gojinn years ago. He knew Gojinn had been through there. He knew Gojinn was alive, or at least, HAD been. There was no evidence after his dissapearance, and the autopsy of the destroyed body the police DID find, was of a doctor in the hospital. The trails went cold; the only remaining piece of evidence being a mysterious line from the police chief's original press conference. Newman had said, "Not long after admittance, an unidentified man was reported to have entered the building", and later "match the M.O of a former friend of Gojinn, who is assumed dead". Viper had remembered some of this, and her curiousity got the better of her.
Who was it that came to the hospital?
Gojinn smirked, looking away.
That mother fucker, Red.
Viper's eyes widened at the tidbit of information. Last she'd heard, Red had his head removed, and then dissapeared after he'd taken possession of it again. Hadn't he died for real, though?
Something had been wrong for weeks. He'd gotten stronger, or something. I felt him coming, knew something bad was happening. I woke up in the hospital, weak. I could barely move. I drank all the blood I could, drained my energy to try healing what I could, and escaped. Red broke in, knowing where I was. He cut the power, trying to seal me on the floor, but I got out by the elevators in time. I was still drugged up, but I managed to get through the sewers and out. I got caught in an alley, though, and for a while, we fought.
He paused, looking away. Viper seemed awestruck.
At one point, we'd used up a ton of energy to finish each other off. He threw lightning towards me. I charged a telekinetic blast. They collided. The force of the two blasts actually created a rip in time. A wormhole. A portal. Whatever you want to describe it as. It doesn't matter, because we ended up in it.
Viper looked lost...
We ended up in Atlantis.
Gojinn looked towards her, expecting her jaw to have hit the floor.
We landed on an outer beach area. The military noticed the commotion. They captured us, and intended to kill us and probably eat us. Lucky for us, Atlantis happened to sink that day. Red and I fought down into a cave, and found a boat we could sail free on, but those bastards burned it to stop us. I think Red escaped the cave safe, but I doubt he made it off the island. It would have pulled him under. Unlucky for me, I was trapped in the cave when the entrance collapsed, and when we'd exited the portal, I'd lost most of my powers, healing included. I was stabbed, but I fought them all off. Later I bled out, and drowned in that hellhole. I died.
This time he had to stop to let Viper absorb the information.
From there, a creature with power stronger than anyone I'd ever met, revived me. He kept me nocturnal in a Spectral Plane, allowing my destroyed body to slowly rebuild itself...only that never happened. Instead he cast me into the Physical Plane, as other people. I know Atlantis was millenia before Christ, but I wasn't awoken until long after. A tattered skeleton, I was cast as a spirit to control other people to do my 'Gods' bidding. I'm responsible for many events in history, thanks to him. Defining moments, that brought us here today- but I digress.
I eventually fought back, escaping my sleep. I was placed in a duel by a higher God, and the winner would get all the loser's powers, and could walk away freely. Loser was sealed in a lonely place on that Demonic Plane. I fought until he declared me victorius. I roamed Earth until last October. Hours before the show- I hadn't remembered anything about myself. I had been searching for a long time, Viper. I've been alive for a long...long time. And I have memories, that I was never really there for. My spirit hadn't truly rejoined my body. That 'God' had created a carbon copy of a spirit to control the body with. A blank slate. I wasn't really there. But I finally had the help of a Detective who helped me uncover my past, and I remembered...everything. I came in touch with a power deep within. I'm changed. I'm not what I should be. I should never have been.... I had new gifts, lost old ones, forgot how to do some of them. I'm more powerful than I had ever imagined being...
He looked into space.
I'll be the undoing of something great...I feel it...
He stood now, fading into a smokey mist almost, as he moved across the room at a speed unlike anything she could imagine. The ghostly trail he left behind of himself had allowed her to look towards him again, as he looked out a new window.
So to answer your question- He turned to her now, half smirking almost. For almost two milennia give or take a few hundred years I'm sure, I've been living. Not in Heaven or Hell, but right among all of you. Lost, and forgotten..
