And rising like the Phoenix

by Viper

Stunned, Viper couldn't say a word, she had been effectively and completely rendered silent by Gojinn. She had no words for what she had just heard, a position that the brunette had rarely if ever found herself in. The outspoken brunette couldn't even form a sentence in response with what she had just been told, it was almost laughable. Viper had an infamous reputation for being brutally honest, of speaking her mind and telling it like it is, good or bad. Words simply did not escape her.

But there she stood, her mind continuing to struggle with wrapping itself around this one because with what he had just told her, it made him sound like a....she couldn't even say it, not even to herself. It wasn't denial, she had never been one to entertain denial for even a moment, she was a realist that preferred to deal in the truth. But, based on what he had just described, the aura about him, she kept returning to the same conclusion. Had he not returned from the dead? That was not a small feat, not something to be taken lightly. Kade had been one to return from the dead, Wyld had been another. To deny the facts, the truth, was to live as a fool in a fool's paradise.

Their deaths and returns had been different from Gojinn's however, they had returned as they had been, slightly changed but still themselves. Gojinn had not. He had been the most changed and that explained why she couldn't sense him or find him when she had tried. These new gifts and the shedding or loss of some of the old had been a factor in that.

Perhaps a good thing considering Gojinn's mention that Red Spyder was also alive, somewhere. A chilling thought, he had killed so many and while those deaths of countless humans meant nothing to her, if he ever returned to the City of Angels, it would shed too much dangerous light on the immortals that had taken residence in the city. Viper felt a chill race along her spine at the thought, another battle between Gojinn and Red would almost but guarantee the destruction of a good chunk of the city.

Looking back up at Gojinn, the brunette could only imagine the conflict that Gojinn must have had raging within him, the questions and confusion that had plagued him in searching for answers and judging by what he had told her, she wasn't so sure he had found all of them. It was a blessing and a curse. Yet, Gojinn seemed to be at ease with it now, having reconciled with what he was and his past. It was the best course, to accept and then deal with each coming revelation as it came. It was just so much to take in.

She wasn't sure how he was doing it, he had fought a "god" to regain his life and in essence had stolen his Destiny from the hands of Fate.

"No wonder you've been keeping to yourself" the brunette began, clearing her throat as her voice finally returned to her. "You've had alot to think about, to figure out."

Viper took a lingering sip of wine, resisting the temptation to drink the remaining contents in one gulp.

"Is there something that I can help you with Goj?" she inquired, wondering if maybe she knew something that could help him remember some of the things he had forgotten "You did come all this way and I know getting to my front door can be quite an ordeal"
