So is Lambs club closed yet ? Is squash still being played there ? I'm working nearby at present and wondered if I could still join for the remainder...
So where will these players go ? If there are 9 courts at Lambs, I assume there are many members who play to a good standard and who will be looking to move to clubs where there is strength and depth. I hear there are a few courts at Cannons, and Fitness First are opening 3 courts at London Bridge, but will these be any good ? I'm looking to join a City based club, but I want a competitive league or ladder structure in place.
I agree it is a bit disrespectful to Tim considering all he has and is still given the sport, but just imagine if Power did play Nicol and it was like one of the many battle's they used to have, What a match, what a venue, what a night that would be!
But I'm sure Nicol & Garner knowing each other as well as they do will give Lambs a great send off.
Tim Garner is a legend of Lambs mate - he has run the place for years and contrubuted more to the game than we will ever do - he was also in the top 30 of the world for about 10 years, pretty good pedigree if you ask me. I think it is fitting that he plays the final match there and wish I was in the UK to see it, will be a very sad night.
I do respect what Tim Garnish has done for squash. All i am saying that the final match at Lambs should not be one sided like Nicol v Garnish. I think maybe Nicol and Jahangir v Power and Jansher doubles?? Now that would be a send off in style and highly entertaining! Then Tim could do the presentation, final speech and lock the front door at the end to close the club.
I have seen these two before! Marvellous entertainment, and an exhibition not to be missed.
Sorry Ally, you won't see them this time, but I will send you a full report.
i havn,t contributed for a while on the forum mainly due to the subject matter (or lack of it).
but the comment about tim really got my back up.
first of all an exhibition needs to be between 2 players that the club members can relate to. there is no greater example of this than tim and pete for lambs. tim and pete know each others game inside out. they are great mates. and the difference in so called class dosn,t matter. they are both good enough to adapt their skills to entertain the crowd. and lastly squash ability aside, i think tim has every right to play the last match at this great club. and i can assure you if tim thought he wasn,t up for it he would be the first to say.
he has virtually run the place for the last few years. i say good for him make the most of it.
yes whole hearted agreement. Tim deserves easily to play the last match at this great institution and the difference in playing standard is irrelevant.
Tim always plays well against his great mate and as this is exhibition stuff they have ways to entertain us all.
see you there.
Nah, Tim is respected but so was a lot of people at Lambs throughout the many years! Not a very interesting exhibitionist either. But would be keen to hear peoples feedback of the match!
Think they should put Higgins v Barada on for the final match!
This was the greatest battle ever played on the main court at Lambs!
