Vast Video Awards

VAST Awards- Time to vote!
Movie makers and skiers all over the world have been working hard during the last winter, more than 100 contributions were handed in at the end of May and now 20 of these have been nominated by the VAST Award jury with members like Glen Plake and Doug Coombs. Riders such as Tanner Hall, Simon Dumont, Jon Olsson, Arno Adam and Pierre-Yves Leblanc can bee seen in the nominees. Now you can vote on three of ten categories at www.vastawards.com, the category Best Ski Performance is decided by public voting only and the categories Best Film and Best Rookie Film are decided 40% by voting and 60% by the VAST Award jury.

DVD Release
The VAST DVD is released this fall in the impressive edition of 315.000 copies and it will be distributed together with nine of the worlds most prominent Ski Magazines. On the DVD you find the 20 nominated contributions presented in their full length, a 16 minute long VAST Award movie mixing some of the best sequences from each of these nominated teams, a movie called Free skiing awareness and a various useful information from the VAST sponsors. The Party to look forward to
The great VAST Awards Ceremony on which the prize purse of 50.000 US dollars will be handed out is held at ISPO in Munich the 29:th of January and will for sure be a huge ski event and a great party!

VAST Awards winners announced at ISPO

Teddybear Crisis, Wergeland/Larsson and Alexis Godbout
dominated the awards for the first edition of the worlds greatest ski film competition, Vast Awards, in Munich on Sunday night.

Yesterday 1100 people gathered in the ICM arena at ISPO in Munich for the great prize giving ceremony of VAST Award.
The Norwegian/American production Teddybear Crises by Henrik Rostrup and Chris Ostness won three categories and all together 17.000 US dollars for Best Film, Best 3:ed layer and Best editing. Teddybear Crisis with skiers like Tanner Hall, Jon Olsson and Simon Dumont is worldwide considered as one of best ski films produced in 2005.
Young upcoming skier Alexis Godbout from team Highland Production in Canada scored big and won both Best skier performance-Peoples choice and Best rookie skier. Godbout and Rostrup could unortunately not attend but interviews with the happy winners was showed at the ceremony.

Team Wergeland/Larsson from Sweden and Norway collected two prizes, Jon Larsson won best skier and the team also won best cinematography.
- This feels great. Vast Awards is giving us the opportunity to make better films and to do what we love- ski! We’ll for sure sign up for next year, a satisfied Jon Larsson said after the ceremony.

The young filmmaker Andreas Olofsson from Sweden won Best rookie film, Olofsson is already at the age of 18 a talented filmer that we definitely will see more of him in the future.
Ski profiles like Glen Plake, Henrik Windsted and Francine Morellion attended the awards and handed out prizes, Vast jury member Glen Plake was at his best telling great stories about his own ski film carrier.

Now the second season of the Vast Awards has started, the contributions shall be handen in in May 2006. More info on www.vastawards.com
