I've disassembled at least a couple of dozen springers and never used a compressor but my 53 was a real bear despite being at most a 6fpe gun. I turned several shades of blue getting the thing back together. I assume the short compression tube mandates a lot of preload. By comparison my 20fpe RWS 350 was a doddle.
