Response to Why gun's are not the problem.
as I am aware that the guns themselves are not the cause of this increasingly armed aggression in your country - as well as in mine.
Also, that the basics for any healthy society are not
being achieved in many countries nowadays.
The main disadvantage of democracy is this tendency by politicians to 'look right' in the eyes of the electorate. And sadly, voters usually tend to cast their vote on what they see or hear, not on what they understand - which is proven to be little.
Ultimately it is us, the people, that make a mess of things.
That does not let politicians off the hook however, and as I said before, this latest 'scheme' to make a safer society is a gross stupidity - but will be swallowed by enough voters I am afraid.
I was dumbfounded when a kind camping owner in Cambridgeshire told me last year I was now considered a criminal in the UK, risking arrest and trial, for having my dutch army pocket knife (with a 3" lockable blade) with me that has come along for years when camping.
Banana-republic scenario's right here in Europe, it is a sad and frustrating developement when logic, reason and ultimately dignity are being thrown overboard for quick electorial succes.
