Response to 1955 Sheridan Silver Streak

Ok, took out the back tailpiece and changed out the old tired hammer spring for a new one which was 1/4" longer. I polished the trigger sear and holes and greased it up and also left off the auto safety spring .That disabled the darn thing as I just couldnt hold the safety and press the trigger without an awkward tilt of my hand . I understand that the side hole on the breech right side was not for the williams peep but for access to the straight bolts pin.Someone had already changed out the old style straight bolt to the later fully curved all forged and O-ring sealed bolt which I like anyway. The striker on this old Dan does not have a half ring like the later ones and so the bolt lug and trigger sear just catch the step of the strikers changing diameter. Still have no clue on how you adjust windage with the knurled ends of the rear sight.I tapped out the inner sight blade and polished and cleaned and lubricated it and the base it so it would slide easier but it still tight with that tension and the knurled heads doent move it .I also tried putting a rear sight on my other Dan that has the Willaism Peep sight just to see if you can see clear over the rear sight and you can.So a soldered rear sight doesnt seem to be a problem there. And I tried a small tube 4x scope and the rear sight is not in the way of the optics either.
