Jim,

A good squirting with Birchwood Casey Barricade around the sight and let soak then a good brushing with long bristle paint brush to push the muck out and squirt again to blow it off, then soak up the excess with paper towel, I'd do the same with the rest of the gun, it's the soaking that will loosen up the dirt, of course not getting any into the chamber or cocking slot, also run oil over the trigger guard it looks dry and starting to oxidize, the sights base is a type of alloy and some cleaners as degreasers might dry and whiten it more, shame about the stock, those marks look fresh and hard to disguise, might need a refinish.
