That made sense both from the manufacturers view(fewer parts to tool up for)but also for the end user. You could buy the seal washer, pump cup,or check valve seal at your local hardware store or car parts shop.

Leather pump cups of various sizes were common up until the 70's or so, I've seen nearly a dozen different sizes in dusty drawers in old hardware stores.

The Hycar pump cup in some old Benjamin rifles is probably a hydraulic master cylinder seal, as mentioned above, a carb accelerator pump seal is about the right size for a small diameter pump tube.
