Hi everyone. I have a few 78 and 79Gs that I need to reseal and was wondering if anyone had instructions on how these are rebuilt. I have purchased a seal kit to try one first, but there is no instructions. Thanks, Rusty
Dave it is going great we sold out table a few weeks ago and seems alot of people are talking about coming. I really appreciate everything you do here. I was going to call you this week and just ran out of time. We are trying to get something in the paper about Cheif AJ shooting after the show. I am really excited about it and look forward to seeing you again. Hope to see ya at the reception Friday night. Rusty
Hi Leonard,
I read your message and could not open the schematic. If you would please send me the high rez copy,I would really appreciate it. Also,do you know of any repair facilities here in Florida? Do you know where I can obtain seal kits or parts for this model? Yhanks, Paul
I do not know if there is anyone in Florida that does repairs - perhaps someone else that is closer to your geographic area could offer some suggestions. I am not aware of ant parts availability for the S&W 78/79G - perhaps Bryan & Associates, or John Groenwold would be worth a try.
Rusty, If your going to attempt a rebuild i'd suggest you get a copy of Airgun Hobby Magazine.Vol.2 No 1[Jan. Feb.Mar.2005].There is a nice article by Peter Rutt, who is probably the best at rebuilding these fine air pistols. The article has pictures and directions for a rebuild.I'm pretty sure you can still get this back issue.Just Google Air Gun Hobby Magazine.Ejwills.
If your looking for some one to rebuild that type air pistol Peter Ruut is the guy,you can also find his great article with pictures on rebuilding the S&W78G and 78G air pistol in Airgun Hobby magazine,Vol.2.No#1
Jan.,Feb.,March,2005.I believe it is still available as a back issue.

re Smith and Wesson 78G or 79G Rebuild Instructions

I just rebuilt two of them and they are holding so far. Yea! I ordered the reseal kits from Alan at Abairguns. Very reasonable and a great guy too. On one of mine the brass transfer port between the valve and the co2 cart was really stuck in the pistol. I had a heck of a time getting it out and finally grabbed it with pliers and yanked it out like a tooth. Well that chewed it up enough it would not seal any more so I chucked it in my drill and cut an oring groove in it, with a small file, on the end it did not have one and that worked. The other gun is Daisy marked and the thing came right out and it already had orings on both sides. The reseal is pretty easy to do but the gun is a little tricky to take apart but you just have to pay attention and get things in the right order. If you need any help, you can email me at bufrif@gmail.com. They are very nice pistols when shooting right.
Hi Bob,
I got my rebuild instructions from Air Hobby Mag. When looking through the info, I also noticed an add for Bryanassoc airgun repair. I called them and was able to order the reseal Kit and found out that they are the publishers of AirGun Hobby magazine. What a wealth of information and also parts for most AirGuns.Their web address is www.bryanandac.com They also carry service manuals for most airguns. Good Luck in your endeavors, Paul
