Want to try to repair my LG 51 Walther and don't know if the cap behind spring can be removed without the spring flying out. It shouldn't be under tension but i'm not sure. A parts diagram would be very helpful. Please help Chris

part #35 holds the spring back.

BUT be carefull removing part #58,because if not done carefully, the end WILL break off!!
Take time to look at the way it is fitted inside the trigger unit, and remember how it was fitted. happy.gif
Just wriggle the trigger unit backwards CAREFULLY and it will slide off, releasing part #58 .

The 51,52,53, 54(if there is one!), 55 and LGV's all come apart the same....

So any diagram will work. I think there is one stored on this forum but someone will have one. You can unscrew the receiver end cap and the ring behind it along with the trigger with no worry. Then you need a spring compressor to put pressure on the retaining block/spring guide. Then loosen the bolt on top....actually the bottom as the receiver will be bottom up...The the spring and guide will slide out. Often on older guns the piston will have to be taped out. Early KG pistons have a threaded stud sticking out the face. The seal slides on it, then a dished washer or collet then a special cone shaped nut. They are often damaged if the gun was shot with a bad seal. If that is the case report back and several here can go through the fixes.

They are simple but nicely made guns, easy to work on and parts can still be had...

PS, Thanks Garvin, I was typing and got called away...great diagram..

Lg54... if there is one.... well

June 5 2009, 5:35 AM

I have had several of these. Lg 54MG is a Lg 51 with a detatchable magazine on top of the cylinder.
BlueBook states it has a "rotery"! magazine, but I would describe it as a gravity feed bowl. It is a bayonet fit to the cylinder and you take it off to reload. If you want to shoot pellets directly in the barrel, you have to
exchange the ball-magazine to a blank mag. Warning! if you shoot pellets with
the ball-mag i place, you will pop the glass lid on the magazine and destroy it! Been there... done that.... sad.gif
Sorry no pic`s found in my files!
Regards! Matts

here's an ad for the LG54 in the Akah catalog dated July 1954, showing the magazine and the blanking plate.

Be careful of that spring!

I've disassembled at least a couple of dozen springers and never used a compressor but my 53 was a real bear despite being at most a 6fpe gun. I turned several shades of blue getting the thing back together. I assume the short compression tube mandates a lot of preload. By comparison my 20fpe RWS 350 was a doddle.
