I am considering rebuilding my HW 35 and it is a older model with the leather piston seal. I was wondering if anyone here has tried the seal adaptor that will allow you to use a modern type seal in this gun? Basically do they work well and or how is the power after? Also anyone used the JM tune kit he offers? All imput would be appreaciated.

Beeman use to sell an adaptor that screws into the piston...

You could try contacting them, they might still have it in stock.

JM kit is great - Stay with leather if possible

I have several 35's with JM kits. They're great. I recommend his piston buttons as well. Very easy to do.

If leather seals haven't been abused, they'll last a lifetime. There are several posts here on reconditioning them. I like to soak in silicone lube and nuke a few seconds in the microwave. The heat helps the oil penetrate a bit more.

Beeman does sell the adaptors for new seals if the leather is real bad.

Enjoy the 35

Ditto That!

If a leather seal is functional don't mess with it. Likewise a J.M. kit, and buttoning the piston of an HW35 would be far more practical.

The synthetic seal adaptor is simple enough, but sometimes that screw can be a real bugger ! All things considered the results are marginal at best, and not always for the better .

Thanks on the info on the Jm kit and also about the leather seals, I had done searches on here about the 35 but when I checked on leather seals then I found posts about the 35. I think I may try making a seal also for fun from the article that was on PA just to see if one will turn out. If the original seal will work out will keep using it rather as I like the old leather seals for the piston rather.
