Slartibartfast's Name

I did not read the books so my question might be able to be answered by someone who did, but my question is this: What is Slartibartfast's name supposed to mean? It kind of sounds funny, but not really. I just assume that it was supposed to sound funny, or perhaps it was explained in the book. Anyone know?
