It was a much faster paced game then the last one. Everett was twice the team they were yesterday.
No scoring in the 1st period. SOG were Por = 13 and Eve = 7
In the 2nd Everett got on the board at 5:24 with a mad scramble in front of the net and the puck shot back into the slot. A hard point shot that made it threw for the PP goal by #16 Kellan Tochkin with #23 Ryan White and #12 Kyle Beach helping.
2nd period SOG were Por = 28 and Eve = 16
In the 3rd at 11:06 Everett found the game winner with a great behind the net bank shot off the goalie coming from #7 Paul Van de Velde who was fed by #8 Graham Potuer.
Portland really showed that they are sick of being at the bottom of the dog pile and they worked their butts off! They also stayed disciplined the entire game. Last season they would have fallen apart going into the 3rd. They don’t have a lot of talent but they are showing heart. It’s going to be a tough climb but I think they will come off the bottom this season.
Everett 2 / Portland 0
Tri-City vs Seattle
The AMS got it going at 10:25 of the 1st with a hard working goal by new comer Spencer Asuchak. He went hard to the net and picked the puck from Jacob DeSerres and poked it past him.
The 2nd was scoreless.
Half way threw the game the AMS and the Birds changed goalies and they put in the Pickard brothers! Chet for the AMS and younger bro (16) Calvin for the Thunderbirds. They both got a standing ovation from the crowd!
At 14:30 of the 3rd there was a pile up and out of that came a long stare down between AMS #23 Tyler Schmidt and Birds #3 Kaydon Trumbley. The puck dropped so did the gloves and helmets. After a bit of sizing up they locked and started throwing hard. It went back and forth both landing good blows. Schmidt opened up his beak and I thought that Trumbley would get a great shot in but Schmidt closed the door and landed a few hard quality shots and ended with a take down by Schmidt. Both benched gave the hockey salute and the crowd roared at this great and long fight. I’d give the edge to Schmidt.
After the fight Seattle came alive!
Seattle’s #5 Brenden Dillon from the blue line by the AMS bench threw a wrister long bomb that caught Chet off guard and nailed the high glove corner pipe at 13:06.
The AMS were caught scratching their heads and Seattle rushed in at 12:41 for a great fast rush goal by #32Jeremy Boyer and #24 Devon LeBlanc.
The scoring was finished off by Seattle’s #25 Colin Haas and #7Brenden Silvester who were in when the line crashed the net at 9:01
This was by far the most spirited game of the Tri-Cities tournament so far! Fast paced with many opportunities to score by both teams. Many full line pile ups, face washing, head locks, jabbing, punching, a bench minor for yelling, hard board hits and one great fight. It was a fun game to watch!!! Seattle played very well and earned the win and Clavin got a team pat on the head for his win over his big brother Chet!
Seattle 3 / Tri-City 1
We are looking forward to tomorrow when the real bad blood should boil with Portland and Seattle going at it and the Americans and Chiefs behind that! I look for all 4 teams to load up with vets and give the fans a treat!
Rock On AMS!
“From worst to first I was there to see it happen!!! I’m so damn proud of this team!”
