it has to do with security checks ie airports and sports venues and the like, believe me, Hanford has plenty of security already if that is what you are implying, on the other hand if you are implying that because of hanford we have lots of spin off technology companies and lots of money in research and development, you are right as that is part of what the government is doing in small business development in Tri so when/if the government is ever done at hanford, there will be an economy left here.
That is why there is so much medical isotope and other medical technology stuff developed out of Tri, every heard of nuclear medicine as one example, there are tons of things being developed here now, and security from pnnl is just one, it is actually kind of fascinating to watch all the new stuff, they have virtually found a cure for a couple of kinds of cancer, no side effects and no returns after the seed pods are used.
