I was shocked to see that the flames posted a supposedly $700 000 loss. I'm willing to bet that the hitmen could probably post at least a $500 000 profit. While the hitmen are the proverbial mouse living next to the elephant I'm sure that the flames owners basically just expect their tidy little profit at the end of the year from the hitmen and after that don't give them much thought until the next fat check comes in. So long as the fat checks keep coming in, the hits will be fine. Until the flames get a new building that will generate more revenue I think the hits will be necessary.
Although if the NHL does their valuations the way MLB does I wouldn't get too excited about the supposed $700 000 loss. In MLB the team can claim every cent of expense for every farm club but don't have to report any of the income generated by the same teams (at least on the valuation).
