No I'm not Mark .I am a Vernon Viper fan and a fan of the BCHL.
Lots of folks greatly underestimate the calibre of some Jr A teams and assume that Major Junior teams would win by default. They also underestimate the coaching level here in the BCHL.
The fact is that Ferners team of two seasons ago would have been more than a match for several dub teams.
I know of what I speak as I watched many of the Everett Silvertips best players before they were drafted and many of the young guys they played against in minor hockey that went the JRa/ NCAA route will prove to be superior professional players in the long run.
Given the proper resources( player wise) you have a coach that will produce a superior team.
Everett fans will be watching one of the top Jr hockey coaches from Canada, regardless of level.
Trust me the only reason Ferner would leave Vernon is to take a step closer to the pro ranks.
Matter of fact he's more than qualified to coach pro right now as does Mark Hollick his predecessor in Vernon.
If it were'nt for another thing called $$$$ why would he ever leave.I'm sure the Tips had to part with some pretty descent coin to get him.
He is worth it .
I wish Mark Ferner all the success in the world and thank him for spending a good portion of his coaching career with the Vipers.
