Re: only at face value

You just refuse to adapt with the game. You want Gordie's elbow to guys ears when the fact is the game is played differently today. The speed of the game has made it a much quicker and more enjoyable product but with that speed came a realization we couldn't have guys using their elbows as torpedoes anymore.

The high level skilled players are taking over the game and for some people its sad to realize that the game of their childhood is changing. I love hard physical hockey but I love a good high skilled game just as much. Maybe you and hockey are due for a terrible divorce, and thats too bad, but the skill game is what is coming. Goons need not apply. It is amazing to watch a game where you can appreciate the incredible ice vision of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. I like a fight but I go to watch Hopkins. There is a reason that Gretzky was top billing for games when the oilers came to town in the 80's instead of Semenko. Sure his fans loved Semenko but he wasn't selling tickets. Sure everyone cheers for a fight but they didn't buy their ticket for it. Everyone wants to see Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby, Ovechkin (euro who likes hard hitting hockey btw), Stamkos, and so on.
