Additionally, 7 of our 13 draft choices this last Bantam Draft were American players. I scoured the prospect list, but don't have time to work through the investigation to see who is from where.
I don't foresee us (or anyone else) ever being an all American team; there are too many variables, and there's no real need for it anyway. It's not a Canada vs. US thing as far as I'm concerned. With that said, I don't think any other team (specifically US teams) can even come close to that kind of draw right now.
As I've said before - the US talent pool is ripe for the picking. Johnston and crew have done a tremendous job of attracting that talent here (to both the team and players' benefit). Any prospect looking at a fast-track to the NHL is going to think twice before passing on an opportunity to come to Portland right now.
