One has to wonder who the Giants have running their website? Donald Duck?
by N. W. Bruin
This is a E-mail I shot off to the Giants this morning! I don't know how many more foulups there are on the website but one would hope there is better research done!! This was in regards to their lastest website news (Giant Alumni - Part 3 of 6) Here is the text of my E-mail:
Re: The Following is completely wrong and not allowed under the NHL/CHL rules!
(From Giants' website: Maybe the most exciting player to ever wear the Giants colours, Brule hasnt met expectations since being drafted 6th overall by Columbus in 2005. The WHL became a boys league for Brule, so in the middle of the 05-06 season, with 23 goals in 27 games, he got called straight up to the NHL, where he picked up 2 goals and 2 assists in his 7 games played that year.")
For one thing the NHL/CHL rules doesn't allow underaged juniors to be called up from their junior teams once sent back to the junior team (only in the case of multiple injuries to the NHL team's players can they make a emergency callup from junior such as the Calgary Flames did with Sven Bartschi from the Portland Winter Hawks) and by multiple injuries it means about the fifth injuried player from that position as the first bunch of replacements must come from the extra players and AHL farm teams. And that junior player must be returned to his junior team once the "first injured player" is ready to play and recovered from his injury.
In fact with Brule he started the season with the Blue Jackets out of training camp. He little ice time and even sat out a couple games and than he was injured for a while up in the NHL. Finally the Blue Jackets sent him back to the Giants where he got the 23 goals in 27 games than led the Giants in the WHL playoffs to the WHL championship and a trip to the Memorial Cup.
