Bettman must have taken too strong a sniff of laughing gas. The players will not go for that. Seriously there will have to be a real starting point. Maybe the current cap will have to hold and than it is a 50/50 split in any increase in revenues so the cap will only grow by $2 million a season instead of the $5 million or so it is going at. Or they just basically come up with a base increase on the $70 million base amount per season of $2.5 million or something. Basically this current seven year deal started with a $38 million dollar cap and it has virtually doubled.
I like the article the Ottawa newspaper had for hockey fans. Ten top things for fans to do with a NHL lockout. Some of the things were pretty boring like watch MLB at # 6 or so. The best choice though low down at # 8 was watch junior hockey. It should have been higher.
