This storm might bring us high surf.

August 27 2005, 12:37 PM

Darn It! I have to visit the In-Laws away from the water!

Guess whose in-laws live in Montreal?

August 28 2005, 11:21 AM

Look at this monster coming this way. I am going to try and score some on the way home. I think we will leave Thursday morning coming back. Maybe Kingston area for a surf on the way back but the fetch should be coming from there to The Bridge and Ashbridges/Bluffers.

If the surf is big at The Bridge do us a favor and call CHCH Television Hamilton to tape the surfing scene again. Remember that there is still a proposal to place a marina smack dap in the middle of that break where we all surf. The attention may be the only thing to truly support our statement that The Bridge is to surfers what Martindale Pond is to rowers. It's our tradition.

Please enjoy the waves at The Bridge if they come but take the time to get the media out there documenting it so that the Hamiilton Harbor Commission and the public gets an eyeful.

The storm is a monster and the way it is tracking it could very well create awesome overhead waves on both Ontario and Erie.

Observations.

August 28 2005, 12:06 PM

As I look at Hurricane Katrina spinning I can't help notice that the main body takes up almost two grids north and south. These latitude and longitude grids take up a huge amount of surface on the globe.

Now when I look at the projected path of the hurricane and look at the grids around Lakes Erie and Ontario the storm takes up all of the territory of both lakes.

There is going to be a lot of rain and wind later this week and the surf is coming.

Get ready to surf a storm that was probably a small storm on the west coast of Africa and then moved into the ocean and across the Atlantic, into the Gulf or Mexico and then traveled up the Appalachian mountains to the Lakes Erie and Ontario and out the Saint Lawrence Sea. It will probably cross the Atlantic and bring surf to Cornwall, England, the west coast of Ireland, and to Portugal.

We surfers of hurricanes are tied together across borders and oceans.

Look at this wind chart for Hurricane Katrina.

August 28 2005, 1:44 PM

This storm has a lot of wind energy that should be here by Wed.-Friday.

Are you Great Lakers ready for some heavy surfing?

August 28 2005, 10:42 PM

Do you have a wet suit and booties? The water will probable up well and bring colder water from the bottom to the surface.

Last year surfing hurricane Francis the water was frigid. I surfed the first day in the down pour that was tropical and like riding a motorcycle in the rain on a surfboard. The water was so cold without booties.

The next day I was clad in booties, hood, and wetsuit.

Get ready every hour and day the projection gets better for some epic and magnanimous surf extreme in these Great Lakes.

The word mammouth is being described for this storm.

August 28 2005, 11:13 PM

It's a Class 5 storm. Maybe a storm of the Century in strength.

The media are doing a great deal of high alerting.

Last night Toronto television news said we would be getting winds of 45 kilometers.

August 29 2005, 10:12 AM

Not to worry about hurricane winds but to be greatful for wind generated by a diminishing storm that will bring us surf.

I have put my foot down and won't be going to Montreal to stay with the father and mother-in-law when there is hurricane surf at The Bridge.

moowhich lake input

August 30 2005, 8:46 AM

Man, I wish some people would start to think about how to stay moowhich free after surfing in poop the next few days-perhaps I should have titled my moowhich forum something else; I hate to see people get sick!

Dan we had no problem with pollution last year during Francis.

August 30 2005, 9:07 AM

Dan there were more surfers out than I could count at Rock Creek and than The Bridge during the 2-3 days of surfing from hurricane Francis. Nobody got sick that I know.

The tracking of the storm will have a great deal to do where the most rain falls. It looks like New York State is going to get Niagara Falls from the sky.

I stopped watering the garden and the tomatos and peppers. They are waiting for the deluge. The moowitch in the garden won't be able to flow out to the street but it can from the municiple sewage plants. However the amount of water flowing from these storms helps break up the moo witch. The golden rule is don't drink the water we surf in.

My car has moo witch and just got towed to the shop. I hope that it is runnning when the storm waves gets here. I stayed home for this storm and the wife and kids went to see the In Laws. It's a good thing the car broke down here instead of on the highway.

I haven't watched the television since late last night. It went from a catagory 5 to a tropical depression fast. Still this storm has high winds to make waves.

A Northeaster For Us.

August 30 2005, 3:07 PM

Magilla, you live the surf life! Glad your staying home to catch the waves. They could possibly be epic! I hope your wife understands that you gotta surf, you can vist the inlaws on a another date for sure. I'm sure she got that message a long time ago when she first met you. We're supposed to get five footers from this storm on Wednesday (25 mph winds?) but I have a feeling it may get even bigger, especially west of Cleveland. Still flat as a mud puddle here in Bula at 3:00 PM Tuesday, but the rain has stared to fall. Cowabunga!

Neal hope you score 10 footers tomorrow.

August 30 2005, 4:12 PM

Are you back on your surf legs again?

As for me my water pump went out on my car and to pay for it is going to take creative fiancing. The big question is will the car be ready on Wed. a.m.

My wife understands my surfing like I understand her diving. Waves and bubbles was the inscription on our wedding cake.

The Moowich...

August 30 2005, 4:35 PM

Dan,

I've wondered about Listerine as well. I think I will keep a bottle of it in the car beside the peroxide. At worst I'll have the freshest breath of all the surfers!

Maybe a post-surf shot of vodka would help to kill all those little creatures ingested. Again, even if it doesn't work, I don't see the harm!

Jon

Tequila with the worm.

August 30 2005, 10:45 PM

Frank that's what you get from not eating the worm. At Tim Lee's Stag they substitued that with a fish. The worm is better for you.

Next thing I'll be reading here is, "Help I've fallen down and I can't get up."

Even in the ocean my sinuses act up.

As for Frank and I, we ate too much smoke.

Listerine is good for after moo witch swashings in the lake, between brushings on long drives, and covering up the scent of beer.

Once again the Tequila in small dosages helps anililate germs. Don Juaquaria told me that.

Also one shot of Tequila= laughter.

two shots= giddy laughter

half a bottle= "The Bridge is just like Pipeline."

a whole bottle= Who am I? My name is blotto. What's surfing?
