I hope it holds

September 18 2005, 2:28 PM

I hope the forecast holds. Its weird though. Every other forecast Ive seen/read is calling for W 10 km/h or there abouts on Tuesday. Lets hope the most promising forecast is the correct one. While we're on the forecast theme, has anyone else found the recent forecasts to be WAY off.. even the day before? Maybe its just me.

Tuesday

September 18 2005, 3:20 PM

Hey... I'vw found the animated to be way off latley, which is weird because it used to be so accurate. It didn't show anything on the weekend and I heard Ontario was pretty good. Last time I was out it was going off in Port Stanley and it showed about 2 feet on the map. Anyways Hopefully Tuesday holds.. although the wind forecast is looking bad. 10km out of the west. Anyways.. does Long Point get good? I was there winter last year and it was all over the place and mushy... even though it was a big swell.

It will happen. It usually comes up on the day I entered this planet.

September 18 2005, 9:12 PM

Most of the years I have had off for this day and could get to the beach there was waist high or better surf.

Monday I think I will go back and rock on getting the house ready for winter on Fargo.

Tuesday and Wednesday I surf. If you surf with me we do a Tequila on Tuesday to celibrate the waves, stoke, happiness, blessings, the Great Lakes, and 54 years.

Mario what's your last name?

September 19 2005, 1:48 PM

This I will tell you. I was looking at Canadian Geographic last week a Ziares market while waiting for some film to be processed there. There was a spectacular photograph taken from outer space of Long Point in the Canadian Geographic Magazine. The pic was taken by a Canadian astronaut.

The image taken of Long Point from space shows incredible amounts of sand going way out into Lake Erie. The best waves I would conjecture at Long Point are breaking way off shore and aren't able to get to shore. If you had a boat or jet ski there might be places accessable on the down wind side.

My suggestion is go more eastward tomorrow. It might be bigger and better.

Sometime tomorrow the wind will shift and the surf might be epic.

On this forum we use entire names like Tim Lee, Frank Kunkel, Magilla Schaus etc. We are proud to be Great Lakes surfers.

Im off in the Afternoon

September 19 2005, 6:12 PM

Ive got the afternoon off. The earliest I can get there is probably around 3ish. I'll check to see what the wind is doing when I get home and decide whether to go right away or wait a bit. Im thinking Area 51. Maybe the Palmwood is worth a look?

Mario since you have become a real person and tomorrow I turn 54 I will be a sharing Great Lakes surfer right back at you.

Look at wyldewoodsurf.com under the bouy section.

Tomorrow there will be good surf in Port Colborne. The Palmwood is in Crystal Beach. It hasn't gone off lately but on a really windy SW day it is amazing. The bottom is a flat rock shelf. So bring a set of booties to protect your feet.

Wyldewood Beach Road is longboardable and beginnner to intermediate.

Pleasant Beach Road is beginner to expert.

I might go to Silver Creek, New York for dawn patrol tomorrow and then come back up to Canada.

Huron looks like it will fire bigger than Erie. If you are up for the drive check out Kincardine to BayField to Ipperwash.

Anything to add Dan Paris?

The winds are starting to switch

September 20 2005, 9:29 AM

It looks like who ever gets out in the morning is going to score. I hope the winds come around again so that there is something left for us that can only get there in the afternoon. If any of the ones lucky enough to be there in the AM could give a visual when they left, it would be great
