Welcome back brother. Hope Mr and Mrs Lee had a wonderful time in paradise.

October 20 2005, 12:47 PM

You should have seen me the next morning. It felt like the top of my head had been removed the night before by a buzz saw.

We missed you in Hamilton recently. The Big Dog MacFarlane and his brother showed up and rode with us. that made my day to see him surfing with us.

Lots of story and techno to talk to you about when you get a chance.

You need to surf more to readapt to the lakes. Everyone who goes to Hawaii and stays there a while gets spoiled and used to the tropical climate. Now you are back home on the range where the birds and the flocks are all flying away. Where seldom is heard a discouraging world and the Fall skys are all magnificent and orange. The stars were out last night to welcome both of you home.

Welcome home Mr. and Mrs. Lee!

Thanks...

had a great time in Hawaii.
Surfed in Town with Kenny Ashburn (thanks Brother!) as the Northshore was either flat or way too f@#ken big to paddle out in for this Haole.

Frank,
6 weeks would be amazing, where are you planning on staying?
We had a nice little cottage in Hauula in the North on the Windward side.
I saw that the house right in front of Pipeline is for sale, it's kind of dumpy looking and not on a very big lot, asking price $3.6 million.

Welcome back

October 20 2005, 9:18 PM

Welcome back.

Yeah, cold is why dem Hawaiians don't come to the Midwest too often.

I rented a board from a guy at Wakiki once. He told me that on one flight, his plane once had a long stop in Chicago. He said that he looked out of the window and decided to stay on the plane.

A California friend of mine once stopped in Chicago between planes in January. They just had their California clothes on. He decided to walk outside even though a red cap looking in shook his head no. My friend went out anyways. His response to the cold was quite entertaining for said Red Cap.

When you get a chance, I need some picture uploading assistance with my network54 Select account that doesn't seem to work.

Warm Hawaii

October 21 2005, 7:33 AM

Hey Frank,

Sounds like your set up pretty go, Sara and I ate at Perry's once with Downtown, not a bad spread for the money.

The best food we had on the Island was in Hale'iwa, a Farmer had a roadside BBQ Chicken Trailer set up, the best I've very tasted.

I noticed some a$$holes vandalized the Town sign in Hale'iwa, the Surfer has been removed from it, this is what it originally looked like.

Frank,
If you're on the Northshore check out the Puu O Mahuka Heiau off of Pupukea Road (turn at the Foodland) but make sure to bring an offering of fruit or something for good luck. It offers an amazing view of the Waimea Valley and the Northshore.

Thanks for the welcome back Bob!
What was your problem with picture uploading?
One tip, make sure the file name is all lower case and has no blank spaces. Network54 also restricts the file types, I think .jpg, .bmp files are okay but maybe not .gif files, I can remember the types off hand. It should list the acceptable files types in the upload text box.

Let me know Bob.

Northshore Heiau

October 21 2005, 2:35 PM

Frank,
To find the Heiau off of Pupukea Road head up the road next to the Foodland. It a pretty crazy drive if it's raining out (which seems to happen 40 times a day there). It will take you up the big hill with a few switch-backs. It's paved all the way though.

The Heiau turn off is the first right hand road that you will come too. It's about a 5 minute drive into it. You will see the offering platform made out of Bamboo at the top of the hill.

It was supposed to be the place where they sacrificed the first British Sailors that landed at Waimea Bay. Follow the trails around it and you will come to what looks like a dry river bed on the east end of it, follow that until the very end and you will come to a concrete platform which over looks everything in the area. A very cool spot.

Bill,
Sara and I stayed on O'ahu and didn't find out about the cheap deals to Island hop until the second last day we were there.
I think Moloka'i is a lot more remote that O'ahu is and far less developed.
I don't really know much about that island... sorry.

Captain Cook got it because he was rude.

October 21 2005, 9:50 PM

What got him killed was that in Hawaiian culture it was death to touch members of the royal family. Cooks party touched a member of the royal Hawaiian family and then **** hit the fan.

This is what I was told by the tour guide at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu.

Tim...

Did you just stay on Oahu or did you check out any of the other islands? My wife and I are thinking about going to Molokai over Christmas, do you know anything about it?

Cheers
