... eh heh heh
The Palmwood went from about 4 foot faces at 2pm to around 8 foot faces at 4pm. Some of the peaks after 4pm were big and hairy. Super glassy if you got on the good ones. At around 5pm the waves were coming over the stone jetty. Police showed up and then an ambulance came and hung around until after dark. Lefts were slow motion going into the wind and rights were fast and walling up beautifully on the good ones. Wild afternoon and some unforgettable rides.

Bill got a laceration on his forehead after his board hit him. He took it like a champ. He was bleeding a bit and the cold water stopped it. So he continued to ride until this big fin came up along side me. It was bigger than a muskie and I think it was the elusive lake cude that was Mr. Motrin's pet. They are all alien species. It's jaws were smaller than a megladon's but we did a kung fu chop on it's nose and the critter tore out of there.
The part about Bill is true. The lake cudda is a secret creature.
The waves were about head high and as the day wore on they diminished in size and started to explode on the first sand bar.
Also I was taking pistures in the water and from time to time getting gulps of water with added sediment flushed into my stomach and lungs. I took it like a champ and now figure I am immune from the carp flu.
In the words of Don Harrison, "Dude why aren't you in the intensive care ward?" Or something like.
I guarantee all of you that there was no poutine in the line up. It goes directly for the arteries.
It wasn't as clean or big as expected with lots of close outs and some wind chop but piles of good waves in between. The lefts were working well today and the inside was steep and fast.
Magilla, it was fun as always surfing with you. I forget to mention that Christine showed up just before I got in the water and was watching from the top. I called my doc on the way back to Toronto and then went to see him. He gave me three stiches and a tetanus shot and sent me on my way (no 5 hour hospital wait - big bonus). The gash is on the eye brow and I'm glad you and Tom played down the gross factor in the water. It was bulging and open when I got to the car and it dripped all the way home, nice.
I'm not a doctor but it looked like you would need a couple stiches.

My brother smaked me once by mistake with a shovel in the same place. We were kids and clearing the snow on our driveway. Bill I swear you got hit about the same place as I did.
What's worse than injury? The film was all blue. Perhaps I ended pointing too high presuming that I would miss the shot. The view finder is so small that it's tricky knowing what is in frame.
Bill we had some adventures again today. I owe you a beer for being so grit. As I said I'm not a doctor just a first responder. We professionally, smacked down that big, invasive, lake cuda.
When I took St Johns training several years ago they suggested regular old crazy glue to temporarily fix cuts like that. I saw medical grade crazy glue at shoppers drug mart the other day, so I'd suggest using that just to play it safe. I carry some hydrogen peroxide, tape to make butterfly bandage, and crazy glue in my surf bag. I have used that combo on occasion with good results on myself and friends. Might be worth considering-I'm not a doctor or anything, but if nothing else it might keep you from messing up your car on the way to hospital. Hope your head is ok and the tetnus shot didn't make you sick.
Dan
For sure, it's good stuff. It's on the st. John's wilderness FA curriculum too. Cyanoacrylate (aka crazy glue) was first invented as a medical product, it will replace top surface stitches on a shallow or closed wound, and it's great if you're not a sadist with a suture kit like me.
There's two restrictions according to my wilderness FA instructor:
*You can't use it deep in a wound because cyanide and acrylamide are both poison, so anything more than 4 or 5 mm deep still needs internal 'old-school' stitches, especially on moving parts.
*the wound has to be !_sterile_! before you glue it shut it or you'll seal in an infection and get a nasty abcess.
I found that clean popsicle sticks work better than a latex glove-covered finger, I don't know if the stuff sticks to those blue nitrile gloves though - anyone know??
It's great to see info like this getting out, it'll save lives.

But in all seriousness the only reason I stayed out was because you OK'd the cut, without your glasses on, and I knew the water temps probably keep the bacteria to a minimum. I think some of the lips in the face paddling back out made it bigger!
Bill duck tape it! you got some sic ones sunday..Magilla im good to go for the next couple days just hit me up with the when and where...i reckon a-bay tommorrow hopefully...
Put a plastic bag in you head and use duct tape to seal it at the neck level... breathe thru your a$$. make sure the bag is clear or you won't be able to see well.
you should be fine
