gone east. Got to Bluffers at 9:30am and nothing. Went to Area 51 at about 2:00 and it had some size but full closeouts with 1 out of 10 ridable. F&%#$** cold as well and thick snow so passed on it. Should've gone east. Some bays like Soup Harbour over at Sandbanks area would have been sweet for sure.
Wish I could tell you if the pier was any fun but I don't have my board yet. I've been observing and bodysurfing Oshawa the past couple of months and I think it will be sweet once I get a board and learn to ride. On windy days there is always one spot with slowly breaking long lines. I've yet to properly observe the West End Park, which shows huge potential for long clean waves on big days. All signs point to both of these spots having rocky bottoms, but with booties, and hopefully no other hazards in the water, they could be sweet.
I've only ever been to Darlington on a flat day, and apparently it brews up nice waves that are 5 degrees warmer due to the proximity to the nuclear plant. The plant isn't meant to emit any harmful substances, but I swear the water there stinks even in the middle of the winter.
The top pics of Area 51 are deceptive and look small.

That place was rocking overhead today. If I hadn't been up all not long the evening before subduing a cat burgler and doing other business through out the night then I would of surfed today. I hit the wall around 8 a.m. and was totally groogy by noon.
It got cold today and the wind chill is totorturously mean and colder after a night of high drama in the city. So I caught up this afternoon for tomorrow. Tomorrow I think will be far better.
The clean swells where running off points like Silver Bay today. I didn't paddle out due to the fatigue. What an old coot has inherited this flesh with all sorts of excuses from time. Tomorrow there will be a rediscovery of the fountain of youth for this codger. Did I tell you that surfing is a cure for baldness?
Adam the pics of Oshawa look juicy at the pier.
You have to get that board now. Look at what we both missed today on this bright and sunny day in two lakes.
