Today I found a standing wave at the source of the Niagara River on the Fort Erie side of the river. It ran waist high and got bigger as it refracted off the stone wall along the river. 1812's is a surf break for only the most advanced Great Lakes surfer and needs to have an accompaning chase driver. The current is strong there and it doesn't look like once you get in there that there is a way back over the wall until you drift under the Peace Bridge to the baby hole beach. It would be nearly impossible to swim or paddle back up the river with the current flowing down the river. There is only one opportunity to catch it. A jet ski tow in would be best.

The ridable wave at 1812's that I discovered today only works during seiche and wind conditions that match the gale we experienced today.

The other spot that I have named today is Receptions at Cedar Bay. A lot of tequila was washed down there at a wedding reception of a surfer that I know. It was very long boardable there today.

Silver Bay Point had excellent rights but the paddle is very long. You need a recovery craft to get back from a place like that during these hypothermic wind chill days.
