Has anyone ever wondered if Hudson's Bay is surfable?

All The Time

Many a night I have turned every page in the Atlas and wondered the same thing about Hudson Bay and other places. There's gotta be surf, but by the time the ice thaws out up there the weather is probably tranquil?

Good point..it looks to be pretty icey up there and if enough of the water ever does become open for a long enough fetch to create waves, it's probably during the calmest conditions.

Thanks for the offer about the wetsuit by the way, I'm just going to ship it to my house. I've pretty much got a complete year-round set now (but no board??) so I'll pay the customs fees this one last time.

this topic has been on the forum 1 or more times in the past. it seems that the general consences was yes it gets big waves, surfable? to be determened. Most of the shore is aperantly swampy with little or no road acess. polar bears waiting for the freeze over are hungrey and will eat u and can swim better then us. I'd say surfing hudsons bay will happen one day but i'm sure not for along time. it will be one of surfings most extreme frontiers. It is at these times once the lakes freeze that one begins to ponder these qestions. Also is hudsond bay salt or fresh water. I'd guess salt
