Looks like there might be some surf tomorrow in St. Catharines area. Wind seems to be picking up tonight. Check it out...

Not sure what beach or break would work best with a NW wind.

Brian you'll have to travel West. Salmon Point and beyond to get NW swell.

It can go off in Saint Cathairines just like any other place in the lakes.

It is surfable everywhere in the lakes when the wind is right. These day sometimes come up and surprise all of us. It reminds me of a a magician pulling a rabbit out of the hat.

You really think that SC would work on a NW (mostly west)? I think that the ice will be gone from H-Bay with this little thaw. Here is the forecast:

Lake Erie - East Half

SATURDAY...WEST WINDS TO 30 KNOTS BECOMING NORTHWEST. CHANCE OF

SNOW AND RAIN SHOWERS IN THE MORNING...THEN SNOW SHOWERS LIKELY

IN THE AFTERNOON. WAVES 5 TO 7 FEET BUILDING TO 8 TO 11 FEET.

My opinion.

There is too much ice for this little thaw. Plus the weekend will get much colder. I believe I heard that our furnaces are going to get a work out for about five days. There is some arctic air coming down from Alberta to further cool Lake Erie.

I believe that NW or East wind might be the better direction for Saint Catharines. I don't recall what the wind direction was the last time I surfed the Pier. The end of the Pier riding was expert level because of the current running hard out into Lake Ontario and another cross current. That riding was a paddle fest.

I have only ridden the beach at Port Dalousie when it was smaller. I liked the way that Daley Park looked near the fake ship.

Fake Ship

February 23 2006, 10:14 PM

On my way back from Area 51 on Friday the fake ship area looked good but the wind in that area was straight north. Maybe Tim could get a visual of the ice situation before Saturday since he lives in the area. How 'bout it Tim???

SC on NW

Ive heard from Mark in Hamilton that the SC area can work on a NW. I was confused about how this could happen too. It doesnt seem to make sense, but apparently it works.

The Tim I know lives in Port Colborne.

Christine is in Saint Catharines. I think she won't be available tomorrow to eye ball it for anyone. This one is in Buffalo for a couple days more.

Geoff I have a trophy for you with your name on it and back Surfing Magazines that I owe you. That statement holds true for other ESA Canadian Great Lakes District members. I can't afford the cost of mailing them any longer.
