Has anyone surfed here? If so, what wind direction is good to hit it?

Cherry Beach Surf

Generally not a surf spot. If its really strong (like 25 knots plus) and on the south side of south-south-west it will peel right off the point from the western gap inwards. It's a nice point setup but the swell doesn't get in. At that windspeed I've seen it at knee to waist high but the wave is kind of full. Might be worth trying on a longboard.

The fast ferry used to go right by the point and if it was going fast enough it would there would be about five minutes of ridable waves. Didn't work every time though, and it felt pretty goofy sitting out there waiting for waves. I've also caught fast ferry waves at Ashbridges on a light NW, but felt even more goofy.
