I just finished watching "Unsalted"- the great lakes experience....I think anyone who has ever surfed the great lakes or is going to, must have this in their collection....i bought it mainly for the non believers that say you cant surf the great lakes....this movie will change their outlook and maybe get them to join in the fun.....lots of awesome shots of big surf days, biggest waves caught on video from the G.L's...they even invite pro surfers to show them and the world that people actually do surf here....
To me the vibe i feel from great lakes surfers is that its a closet sport/lifestyle thats so pure in its form, and still undiscovered by so many people living in its radius...its almost like what ocean surfing was back in the 60's...nobody knew what it was, only a selected few had it all to themselves..and so thats what I feel when i see G.L's surfers, we have a hidden gem thats all for us to enjoy....
The waves are waiting for all of us to enjoy........
Are you going surfing at Lakeview Park tomorrow? I'll be heading out, I'm going to try to go as soon as the winds shift NW to hopefully catch some clean swell.
Boardsports is a sponsor of this Great Lakes community. It is a core shop w/ a long history in watersports in Canada. If you go there, say what's up to those guys and tell them where you heard about the shop.
The shop is run by some of the friendliest people in the business, and these guys are the real deal. They log more watertime in a year than most of us could ever wish for, surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, wakeboarding, they do it all.
I believe that they offer a 10% discount to ESA members on neoprene/clothes/accessories.
The shop is at 2010 Yonge st in Toronto, West side, S. of Eglinton, north of Davisville. (416) 485-9463 www.boardsports.ca
They also have a location in the Blue Mtn. Village in Collingwood, which has some wetsuits and a few boards, but the bulk of the inventory is in Toronto.
