More than likely, the wind is howling W here. That means there is a potential for the pier to go off. I was hoping the wind was going to switch NW in the afternoon, but the forecast for Oshawa now says that won't happen until the evening. Toronto is supposed to switch NW in the afternoon. I'm going to wait until 1 to see if it's worth waiting until the evening (6ish) or go out staight away.
Do you mind surfing with a rocky bottom, with the occasional boulder? Oshawa's beach break is nothing special 90% of the time, but 200 metres from the beach there is a nice break. I am also pretty keen on checking out the West End Park and Intrepid Park today, where the former Camp-X was (secret agent training camp for world war 2), it's a massive strip of coastline with large bluffs that might shelter the wind.
Have you heard of Ashbridges Bay in Toronto and Bluffers Park in Scarborough? Those are apparently good breaks, might be worth checking those out before making the drive to Oshawa.
I ended up going to Sand Banks park for the night, and caught some waves yesterday and today, with the better waves yesterday. Thanks for the info though.
