This grom was stoked. He just won a surfboard from Kelly Slater, who is on a 6 day 6 city tour of his new movie "Letting Go". Slater came out and talked for about 10 minutes, then went to a back room where the line of girls to get in was longer than the Appalachian Trail. The movie wasn't bad. The surf was minimal behind the Surf Club, but the water looked so warm, clean, and tropical this evening. Wish I had a board because the waves were hitting a sandbar 25 yards offshore with some mushy but halfway decent lefts. Stryder Wasleuski was also in attendance, whose 7'9" gun I purchased used up on the North Shore back in '99, but again the line of girls lined up to get in the back room was not worth the wait to ask him about the history of one of his former surfboards.

Always excellent to see the groms win the board.

You're due for bigger lake surf. Think August/September.

I don't think it's so much a reference to stepping down but more of to his first few losses on the 05 tour and putting that behind him to win the title for a seventh time. He talked about his rib injury briefly, but he will be competiting in the next event, and still has the lead.

If girls that chase hockey players are 'puck bunnies' and followers of lacross players are 'lacrosstitutes', what would you call these girls that are all over surfers?
