(Login MagillaSchaus) ESA - GREAT LAKES DISTRICT CO-DIRECTOR from IP address 152.163.100.203
There might be surf on Saturday in Fort Erie/Crystal Beach at The Palmwood or in Port Colborne at Wyldewood Beach in Ontario, Canada=Lake Erie.
I will make the decision on Friday and decide if we will have a contest the next day.
It is my right as the Co-Director of the ESA Great Lakes District to throw a surf contest elsewhere other than The Bridge in Hamilton if the condutions warrant. We haven't been getting surf in Hamilton in June for a jam so we must adapt to Great Lakes surf conditions. This is a good opportunity to get our first east lakes district surf competition on the books for 2006.

ESA Great Lakes District "Busting Out in June" Surf Contest on Saturday Lake Erie.
June 16 2006, 3:19 PM
First don't leave for Lake Erie until around 1 P.M. after checking this post.
At one p.m. I will update everyone and see if the wave conditions are building to declare that the contest is on. If the wind intensity is strong SW 30 m.p.h. then we probably will hold the contest at The Palmwood in Crystal Beach in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada.
Our back up beach will be Wyldewood Beach.
At the moment wivb.com weather is calling for 15-30 SW later in the day on Saturday. I haven't seen wind predictions for Sunday yet. The tmeperatures of the air will be hot and there might be rain.
There will be a $10 Canadian entry fee.
The competitor raffle: There will be one raffle ticket given out for every division that a competitor surfs. At the end of the year we will have a raffle. Hold onto those tickets until 31 Dec. 2006. We also have a beater board that Ryan donated to the east lakes district. It needs some repairs and I'm going to try to make it right before the end of summer and raffle it off in the competitor raffle.
We have boxes of ESM's and Surfing Magazines. The Surfing Magazines are owed to a lot of our ESA Great Lakes District Canadian members whom I cannot afford the price of mailing from my pocket or the meagre budget of the Great Lakes District. This is another reason to show up and get all those back issues the ESA owes you as part of your membership. Incidently the current issue of both these magazines are in my possession.
Trophies will be awarded to first place winning competitors.
All divisions will be held for those competitors who show up to compete.
Competition points are awarded based on placement in your division. First place gets 100 points, second 900 and so on. These accumulated points from each Great Lakes District contest determine who gets priority in slotting from our district in next years 2007 Northeast Regional Championship Surf Contest.
REMEMBER TO CHECK THIS SITE TOMORROW/SATURDAY AT ONE P.M. TO FIND OUT IF THE CONTEST IS A GO, THE TIME OF THE CONTEST, AND THE CONTEST LOCATION.
Pray For Surf.

Let's wait till one p.m. on Sunday to see how the wind is shaping up.
June 17 2006, 11:31 PM
At the moment the prediction is indicating gusty wind in the afternoon. I think this might mean late in the afternoon before evening. The high air temperatures tomorrow may hurt the wave heights. We shall wait and see. Sorry about this but we are dealing with Spring weather.
So the contest for Sunday is still on hold until 1 p.m.
Check this site on Sunday 18 June 2006 ay 1 P.M.
Thanks for your patience.

Contest Cancelled for this weekend.
June 18 2006, 12:21 PM
The ESA Great Lakes District "Bustin Out Of June Surf Contest" has gone bust.
Maybe there will be small surf late this afternoon but I'm not going to gamble on it and have surfers drive long distances for sketchy conditions and maybe one foot waves. Save the gas for a bigger day.
The Dad's here could have easily made this one had it happened.
I think the chances for surf will be better for dawn patrol tomorrow morning. Tonight the air temps will fall and the wind will still be strong.
So to re-summarize the surf contest will not be held today.
Anybody who wants to pick up their Surfing Magazines that come with their membership may stop by this evening in Saint Catharines.
