By no means a secret spot, this is typically the "go to" spot in Port Colborne with the exception of the Palmwood Motel and Wyldewood. If there are waves, you'll usually find guys/gals parked at the end of Pleasant Beach Rd. See --> http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=342+Pleasant+Beach+Rd.,+Sherkston,+Ontario,+Canada,+L0S+1R0&ie=UTF8&ll=42.868321,-79.124479&spn=0.0145,0.042915&om=1

Keep in mind that the break tends to get heavier the further east you go. Also keep in mind that the same stretch of beach going east of the public access is owned by private cottage goers who tend to be somewhat cranky/territorial during the summer months - they don't seem to mind as long as you're in the water, but I would refrain from chilln' on their beach. I had never heard of “beach ownership” in the past until I came across this stretch of cottages – and it appears that these people do in fact own their respective land in front of their cottages as well as a stretch of water. Really bizarre in my opinion. There is a public beach in front of the parking at the end of Pleasant Beach Rd. (map attached).

Also, not far away is Wyldewood Beach (at the end of Wyldewood Rd.) it's also considered a popular surfspot - I can't shed much light on this break as I've never surfed there before. I'm certain that Magilla can fill you in on this historical spot. Palmwood typically works best in the fall/winter with higher winds and cooler temps.

I’m certain that there are a ton of other spots nearby that work well with the right conditions, and I would encourage you to explore the coastline as it can be a really rewarding experience. Having said that, know what you’re paddling into with regard to obstacles, and don’t go out solo if you’re not confident with your abilities and the surfspot. Have fun!
