Out for a wedding on the east end (North Fork) of Long Island, but managed to cross the island to squeeze in an hour before the 11am wedding. Fun waist to chest with the occasional bigger wave here and there. S/SW swell and upper 60s water temp. A little crowded (spread out), but mellow overall.
Up on the north shore of Long Island (Riverhead), behind the restaurant where the wedding was, the waves were calm, but I imagine that on a strong wind over the 25-40 miles of fetch (depending on wind direction), there could be rideable surf under the right conditions? This photo was taken looking westward. I'd be interested to see this area during a strong NW coldfront, or during a Nor'Easter.
