Some knee to waist high glassy surf here along the Jersey Shore this evening. Wind is west, so no relief from the heat. Even the water was balmy today, which is sure to bring on the jellyfish for August. There were hot pockets that felt like 80 (no, nobody was peeing next to me either)! Warmer than Long Island. Forecasted to get near 100F Tues/Wed/Thurs, but it looks like the surf will be minimal here. I imagine the near shore water temps along the lakes up there will skyrocket with this heat? As much as I love warm water, I'll take cooler, more cleaner water anytime of day, unless I find myself in a tropical location where you don't have to worry about pollution/algae/jellys, etc. Bring on August....some tropical activity way out to keep an eye on. About to enter the most wonderful time of the year, moving towards the peak of Hurricane Season in a month or so.
