Don Paul the best educated weather man in Buffalo was saying last night on WIVB Television/Buffalo, N.Y. that by next week we will be seeing shore ice on Lake Erie.
Lake Erie water temperature off Buffalo, N.Y. has fallen over night one degree F from 37 to 36 degrees. In F temperature the temperature that water begins to freeze is 32.

Tonight the deep freeze is on with air temperatures dropping to 5 F. If there was surf today around here there would be a Great Lakes surfer on it. A majority of surfers in Florida, California, and Hawaii cringe just thinking about the coldness and usually say I'd give up surfing if it was that cold.
The upper peninsula of Michigan on Lake Superior is in the five foot range right now. Some of us wish we owned airplanes.
My pet peeve about U.S. and Canadian televised weather forecasts is that they are too nationalistic. The complete picture of the weather for travelers and nomadic surfers is something that should be more comprehensive and cross borders in this area of the Great Lakes. I don't have cable and have reverted to rabbit ears. I'm not deprived thanks to books, radio, and the computer.
