Here is the most recent MODUS image of Lake Erie on 29 March, 2007 at apporximately 1800 hours Greenich Mean Time.

The ice on Lake Erie is breaking up. It's no longer a sheet of ice extending over hundreds of miles. The melt down is moving eastward. Greenies west of Long Point.

Waves today on the west end of Lake Erie. What is that brown sediment moving with the waves in that end of the lake?

Look at that goop in Lake Saint Clair.

Temperatures this week are supposed to be colder than earlier this week. That may mean that the lofting effect won't be as strong an influence on Lake Ontario.

There is always hope:

Lake Huron and G. B. are clearing too of ice. Lake Simcoe frozen.

March 29 2007, 9:59 PM

The shore ice on Lake Huron is along the Bruce pen.

Spots opening on south end.

No surf yet for Lake Simcoe.

Green water U.S. side of Lake Huron and at southern end.

Kingston is clearing and Lake Ontario is practically wide open.

Goop water at mouth of Genesee River in Rochester, N.Y.

Updated image???

April 3 2007, 5:19 PM

Hey Magilla,
Do you have an updated image of Lake Ontario on the east end? Some major west winds predicted on Thursday, and cold enough to whip up some surf. Just curious at this point, but maybe stupid enough to drive up and check it out???
Thanks,
Ryan

The best view was on 31 March 2007.

Since the 31 of March there has been too much cloud cover with this big low presssure system flowing from the west.

You can see that the east end of Ontario is open.
