Earth Hour will be supported tonight in our home in Buffalo.

This is a citizen revolt against global warming and those who refuse to acknowledge scientific observations occuring around the planet. Revolt by turning off ALL your lights tonight for one hour between 8 and 9 PM. Pass this on.

No offence Magilla but alot of scientists are not calling Global warming real..Some also say if it is happening it is a natural swing in nature. I believe that. I am all for cleaning up pollution, but it has nothing to do with weather change...the weather always changes. One good volcano will spew more "green house " Gasses than we can ever over all the years. Gore is a fraud, his book is full of lies. Clean up pollution and dress for the weather. The ice is melting at the poles because of nature not us.

I'm sceptical of those anti global warming scientists.

March 30 2008, 1:10 AM

Frank as you can tell that my opinion is suspect of the anti global warming scientists. In my opinoin they are like scientists in the past that used to shill for smoking. We are not dealing with a volcaninc activity that is reducing the polar ice. There are over a billion Chinese people who want to live the western style of life. Every day a new coal power plant comes on line to create electricity in China. There are thousands of cars being put on the road daily in China. Our North American gas prices and cost of living are also going up because of the Chinese use of oil. In the U.S. there has been a policy of government use of junk science and avoidence of global environmental problems. Environmental regulations that were put in place going back to Earth Day are being subverted, changed, or out right rejected.

Christine and I ate dinner by candlelight with a ordinary bottle of table wine and felt in solidarity with the global community. It might be symbolic as a gesture but we feel it was a step in the right direction to place more value in conserving instead of consuming. We also brought canvas bags with us when we grocery shopped today. We sometimes forget them but try our best to always use canvas. We use the better energy light bulbs but don't toss them in the garbage with the batteies we use. We take them to recycling events when they occur. Energy conservation lightbulbs have mercury in them. Batteries has other pollutants in them. We recycle paper, plastics, and glass and in this neighborhood this is the exception instead of the norm. Next year I plant another home grown, organic garden. We use no pesticides in our home or in our yard. We try to do our part like you do.

Our opionions differ on global warming but that is ok brother.

Global warming and plastics destroying the lakes and ocean are environmental issues that bother me. These opinions are not those of the ESA but solely of myself Magilla Schaus.

If you throw a pebble in the water does it not make ripples just as if you were to throw a stone.....thus don't say our inbalance with nature is not having an effect.......as for Volcanoes here is a rebutle to that http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2006/12/17/223957/72
