This photograph was taken by myself after I had been asked by Joe Grattola ESA Southern New Jersey Director for my photograph. I then said, "now let me take a photograph of you Joe."
Joe and Lisa Grattola and the long time ESA Southern New Jersey Directors. Joe's Mother was the Director of the district before Joe and Lisa took over. His Mother used to take Joe and fellow N.J. competitors up and down the east coast to competitions when he was a sprout competitor.
Great Lakes surfers should know that ESA SNJ was with us during our fight to save "The Bridge" surf break in Hamilton from being turned into a marina. They sent a check to me which I never cashed but the gesture was magnanimous and in solidarity of the ocean with the Great Lakes. This is the kind of guy that Joe Grattola is. He is a highly competitive surfer and a mild mannered guy. However he has fantastic discipline as a competitor and has been in the top five in his divisions for years and years. He is extremely supportive of surfing and a Legend on the East Coast.
Thank You SNJ we will always remember you standing next to us in the fight to save a Lake Ontario surf break you have never ridden.
