Neither fog, nor rain, nor wind, nor what ever the Eastern Surfing Association's Northeast Region amateur surfing contests continue forward.
Today, Sunday 17 May 2009 our younger competitors and our Grand Legends paddle out and make a little history in competitive surfing. Some of these surfers will become world famous and others will contribute to the betterment of their family and this planet. Perhaps some of the future ESA Directors are among their ranks. The baton gets passed from generation to generation of competitive surfers. Then past plays a part in the present and the future is in the present in the ESA.
Eastern Lines Surf Shop has repositioned their web camera. We now can see the ESA judging scaffold tent. The waves are bigger than they look. On Friday Lester Priday told me that the waves were waist high.
Take a look for yourself.

My sense memories are kicking in reliving the many ESA Northeast Championships that I have worked in. Scott Goodwin the ESA Central New Jersey Director is on the microphone giving Jersey style, color commentary. Legends Tom McClaren and Kitty Pachet are on the beach ready to paddle out. Kitty and Tom are beaming with smiles to be surfing in another surf contest. They are holding up respect for our senior surfers. They are like gremmies in older bodies when it comes to surfing. They have never lost their passion for wave riding and seeing that surfers of various abilities get their chance to compete and gauge themselves against a higher bench mark. The good memories of contributing to the little leagues of surfing competition have enriched many lives.
If you are a former, ESA competitor, or a past director or one of those who are presently on the beach under the tent and keeping the event rolling on you each have some good memories of our contests. I thank you all for the current good thoughts that wash over my consciousness like a good wave heading for a grouping of surfers in colored rash guards waiting to grab the best wave they can and surf it with everything they have.
Thank You for allowing this old surfer to wax nostalgic on a sunny Sunday morning. I'm in this house but my soul is at the beach and find this small sip at the past and present to quench a surfers thirst for competitive surfing and having fun with surfers from the Northeast Region of the ESA.
