ARE PEACE REQUIREMENTS READY?

Archbishop Chrisosthomos, who was one of the responsible bodies of the blood that was shed in the name of ENOSIS IN 1963, after I read his interview published in Halkin Sesi Daily Turkish newspaper, my conviction on the result of Talat-Christofias negotiations - COULD ONLY BRING A SOLUTION IF THE TURKISH SIDE SUBMITTED TO THE GREEK CYPRIOTS has proven my correctness once again. I am dedicating the interviews of Chrisosthomos and Christofias with Yusuf Kanli to those who took the roads and hold olive branch as if playing in a comedy show with Christofias chanting slogans PEACE AND IMMEDIATE PEACE - THE EU MEMBERSHIP AND PEACE COULD NOT BE PREVENTED.

Chrisosthomos is saying; THE CONDITIONS FOR TURKS AND GREEKS TO LIVE TOGETHER ARE SUITABLE and throughout the interview neither of them is accepting their-the Greek Cypriots- wrong doings during 1963-1974, nor is prepared to apologise. As if Chrisosthomos didnt know anything about the Akritas Plan he carries on saying - the culprit of 1955-1958 incidents is the divide and rule champions British and terror of Denktash that divided Turks and Greeks and as if he has forgotten about what he said in the recent week - WE ARE POWERFUL, WE MUST TELL THE REALITY TO THE WORLD THAT WE ARE AFTER ENOSIS, and further he is sayingTHE PROBLEM IS BECAUSE NEITHER OF THE TWO SIDES ARE CONCERNED ABOUT CYPRUS BUT THEIR MOTHERLANDS. According to Archbishop Turks left the government in 1963 and says- THE 1960 GOVERNMENT IS THERE IF TURKISH CYPRIOTS WANT THEY CAN RETURN BACK and defines the 1960 government as being a unitary government like Christofias. He could also say DENKTASH DID NOT WANT PARTNERSHIP THEREFORE HAS MANAGED TO DIVIDE THE PEOPLE WITH ONE ORDER AND THREATS; SO HE MAINTAINED THE ISOLATION OF THE TURKISH CYPRIOTS. He says; - RETURNING BACK TO THEIR PROPERTIES ARE UP TO TURKISH CYPRIOTS, VACATING THEIR PROPERTIES IN 103 VILLAGES WERE ORGANISED ACCORDING TO A PLAN FOR TAKSIM; OTHERWISE THERE WERE NO REASON FOR EVACUATION.


In that case what were the wrongs of 1960? Why the government was inoperable according to Makarios? According to Chrisosthomos the veto right that was granted to minorities were unnecessary. For workability of a government effectively, the leaders must be elected by people conjointly and one day it could be possible for a Turkish Cypriot to be elected president of Cyprus as in America happened a black was elected president representing blacks and whites. IF WE WANT TO LIVE HAPPILY IN THIS ISLAND WE MUST LEAVE THE OLD DISPUTES THAT CAUSED DIVISIONS OF OUR PEOPLE TO A SIDE.

In other words there are no special rights for Turkish Cypriots.

THE INSTITUTIONS AND THE POLITICAL PARTIES MUST BE ABLE TO ELECT THEIR REPRESENTATIVES IN A UNITARY GOVERNMENT AS THE MAJORITY OF ONE PEOPLE LIKE ARE DONE IN GREECE.

According to Chrisosthomos we are Europeans represented by a sovereign government that is consisted of one people and live happily under the European acquis as the rest of Europeans.

Please pay attention to this Greek Clergymans diversion;

On one hand he says LET US REVERT BACK TO 1960 AGREEMENTS- on the other hand he talks about THE EUROPEAN ACQUIS AND NEEDLESSNESS OF VETO RIGHTS. He also rejects the derogations (prime European laws) same as other leaders, and demands the expulsion of the Turkish army and Turkish settlers as he defines them Turkish parasites. He blames Turkey for isolations and embargoes and says - IF THE GREEK SIDE RECOGNIZES THE PORTS IN THE NORTH AS TURKEY WANTS, IT WOULD MEAN THE RECOGNITION OF TRNC AND THIS WILL BE THE END OF THE EXISTING CYPRUS REPUBLIC WHICH IS NOT DEFUNCT. THERE COULD BE NO SEPARATE STATE AND SEPARATE SOVEREIGNTY IN THE NORTH. TALAT IS UNDER THE COMMAND OF TURKEY, OUR REAL ADDRESSEE IS TURKEY AND TURKEY MUST FULFIL ITS OBLIGATIONS AND RECOGNIZE THE CYPRUS GOVERNMENT.

Chrisosthomos is saying I AM NOT AGAINST FEDERATION; BUT FEDERATION HAS TO BE A PURIFIED ONE. Christofias also said UNITARY FEDERATION- FEDERATION HAS TO BE FUNCTIONAL, THE GOVERNMENT MUST BE OPERATIVE, IF THESE ELEMENTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE THE FIGHTS MIGHT START AGAIN AND CAUSE THE DESTRUCTION OF CYPRUS.

The Priest must have forgotten that they have destructed the functional partnership government of 1960 claiming that Turks were granted rights in excess, but neglects accepting responsibility. He also was adding; - THE AGREED SOLUTION MUST NOT CONTAIN INJUSTICES; IF AN INJUSTICE HAPPENS AS IT DID WITH THE 1960 AGREEMENTS, THE WRONGED SIDE WOULD WANT TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND WILL CAUSE DESTRUCTION OF THE GOVERNMENT JUST LIKE IT HAPPENED IN 1963. This is an indirect warning by the priest to the Turkish side. He must have been carried away because he warned all the foreigners, England included withdrawing from the island and both say Cyprus belongs to Cypriots.

Nevertheless, we all know Cypriots means Cypriot Greeks and does not have place for Turkish Cypriots.
As Christofias has said one people concept are the Greek Cypriots that represent the 80% population of the island and the rest are minority groups.

The interviewer Yusuf Kanli, after had listened to the priest became very disappointed but asked the final question.

Are you expecting solution by the end of this year?
The response of the priest was very decisive.

WHEN I LOOK AT THE DEMANDS OF ANKARA I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THERE WOULD BE A SOLUTION.

But when we look at the demands of Greece and Greek Cypriots we do not think that there would be solution; as long as Talat does not submit completely to his old comrade.

Could anyone see any other way?
