IS THIS EU STYLE JUSTICE OR DISGRACE
A few days ago I read a news clip consisting of only two or three sentences on EUs web page that had a title GREEN LIGHT OF EU LEADERS FOR KLAUSS DEMANDS.
The president of Check republic, Vaclav Klaus, in order to sign the Lisbon Treaty had put some conditions forward and the EU leaders had signalled green light for its acceptance.
What were the conditions of Klaus?
Klaus asked the Check republics exemption of the EU Basic Human Rights Accord; and at an EU Leaders Summit meeting the exemption of Check republic was accepted.
What were those EU BASIC RIGHTS ACCORDS?
The EU BASIC RIGHTS ACCORDS regulates the responsibilities of EU towards the citizens of member countries. (This document was submitted to the head of States at a French town Biarritz in 2000 and received favourable response by the leaders.
The recent history of Check republic contained humanity shame, so, they had to ask for an exemption from EU BASIC RIGHTS ACCORD.
After the Second World War ended 3 Million of ethnic German and 30 thousand of ethnic Hungarians were subjected to a relocation programme; and during this relocation process over 250 thousands of people had died, the deportees were stripped of their citizenships and their properties were confiscated without paying any compensation in return. Their biggest shame was adopting resolutions that prevented Check republic from being tried for their crimes of genocide.
These resolutions that reflect the shame of humanity also are known as Benes resolutions and are included in the constitution of Check republic even today. In 2002, prior to the membership of Check republic the EU had asked the Check republic to extract the Benes resolutions from their constitution; however the Check republic had refused it. If these resolutions were extracted from the constitution they would have to pay compensations to millions of German and Hungarians. Reasoning for this was The Prague government do not want to pay the cost of these historically compelling conditions.
At the end the objection of Prague government was not found against the EU principles.
Prodi, the head of EU Council, on 22 May 2002 on this subject in Brussels had said we must look to the future; the EU was founded on principles of `forgetting and opening` new pages.
On the other hand the Commissioner Günter Verheugen responsible from the enlargement of EU, on 11 April 2002 had said this in Prague:
According to the EU Accords, the institutions of EU have to decide on the present positions of the membership candidate countries and not on their past. The matters of the past should not cast shadows on the success of Check republic and on 1 May 2004, despite all its shame on humanity the Check republic was accepted in the EU.
Please bear in mind that no one including Checks has disputed the authenticity of these events that occurred in 1945; whereas a campaign is being conducted by EU for Turkeys qualification for EU membership and to accept responsibility on the notion that the Ottomans had committed genocide and pay compensations for something that utterly based on lies.
When considering the membership for Check republic, the principles of opening a new page, nullifying the past mistakes, we must look for the future, and not past performances when we consider the membership of countries are nowhere to be available when it came for Turkey.
The commissioner responsible from the EU enlargement Mr. Olli Rehn today could say this; In order to find a solution to Cyprus issue Turkey must support the direct negotiations and has to take necessary and practical steps for its success.
Since the membership of Greek Cypriot administration was exempted from these impositions it would mean Olli Rehn is imposing conditions to Turkey for every kind of hideous concessions.
For everyone to see; here is the justice understanding of EU that is considered the champion of human rights and international justice.
I am dedicating this despicable shame to those who vehemently endeavouring to take Turkish Cypriots before Turkeys membership granted into this organization that is representing the bias, injustices and corruption.
At a time the committed crimes could enter as derogations in the EU annals; they could claim the protection of Turkish Cypriots could not become EU derogations.
I take this as shame of EU, what about you?
