Allan C. Weisbecker's latest written book "Can't You Get Along With Anyone? a writer's memoir and a tale of a lost surfer's paradise, Humdrumming Ltd., United Kingdom" is an honest quest and substantial reflection upon an investigation of a murder that occured in Costa Rica. The story includes among other things his own life in turmoil, and many other fascinating topics containing precision wit, intelligence and inside history that the passing tourist won't hear.
This tale pits the struggle between honesty and deception. It is Weisbecker's discoveries and personal enlightenment that become the rewards Weisbecker reaps through his determined and indomitable willingness, to get down to the truth, and to hold onto his integrity as a writer of character and varacity.
This review will not be a full revelation of the complex and fascinating stories that Weisbecker has shared with his readers, but instead a reason why one should turn off the computer and television and go to the shoreline and check for perfect surf or pick up a good book and discover great literature.
Allan says straight up, on the book's cover that, "writing is easy... just stare at the blank page until your forehead bleeds." These Weisbecker-isims and his many sharp insights
give you just a glimpe at the outrageous slings and arrows that you will discover as you turn these pages to find that life and surfing are not Blue Crush, Endless Summer, or C.S.I. Yes every proverbial dog must pay dearly before they have their day. This pooch gets coated with tar and feathers, rolled in the cactus, harshly betrayed, and then endures a metamorphosis into a sacrificial goat with horns. Weisbecker gets kicked into the gutter and stomped on and thrown into a den of lions. Yet he rises above miasma and turns disaster and defeat into good fortune. His stuggle and achievement demonstrate what the human spirit can endure. This story follows a path through spiritual reduction. It is Allan Weisbeckers steadfast tenacity that refutes persuasive guessing game players. Allan takes his readers down a Costa Rican rabbit hole and brings them out on the other side of a black hole. In the end one essentially feels changed in every single molocule and cell of their consciousness. This reader of his most recent book thanks Allan Weisbecker for leading me back to the writing's of American icon and Great Laker Kurt Vonnegut. In addition on U.S. Election Day I went to the polls with purpose and determination to put an end to years of outrageous deception. Thank you Allan. We as Americans in the U.S. have had to put up with incredible spinning of the truth. It was other countries throughout the free world and Allan Weisbecker who were in the leading vanguard to beg and call out the question. It took the rest of the country a while to catch up. This book also provided me with some good laughter at established characters and power players who are great at fandangling stories and other malignments. Weisbecker put on the toga of Promethesus and started walking down hill and I followed him right into the valley of six hundred and came out feeling victorious. The procees of understandings one's suffering makes us all wiser and better people. We saw that light and heard that voice that called us to attention right on time.
The onions get pealed back slowly and methodically in this book. Multiple organic, layers carry the reader to a cathartic and satisfying experience. I commend Allan Weisbecker and applaud him for his skill in crafting of words and stories into the realm of an art form. The book is provocative, meaningful and compelling reading. In this book a dude is shaped into a true, wave warrior. He commands his own destiny.
So surfers must often suffer from non surfers defining to us the surfing world we live in. Most of us have stories but few of them equal Weisbecker's ones. Great Lakes surfers are accustomed to being chumped and dismissed. We have long heard, "there is no surfing in the Great Lakes." That sort of pap after a while turns into a drone that we tune out. Imagine what it's like to be on the recieving end of such nonsense coming from a member of the writing establishment assigned to help you publish your next book. Believe me it's some astonishing reading. The full brutality unchained comes down like an avalanch. You stand in the middle of it and cry out. Why am I caught in this hellish place? It's that way when Allan Weisbecker starts writing non fiction books. The fluff gets stuffed in pillows and the scented sex oil is found on the night stand where it doesn't belong. You open a door and the house exploades and all that's left is the door handle in your hand. You don't forget stories like that. I recommend that one invest their time is this exceptional book that broaches more than surfing and territory within inside shore break writing. The story is deeply grounded by his honesty in a bitter and harsh story. An inquiring mind can find much good value in writing from the head and surfing from the heart. The massive and gross empiricism in our time and Weisbecker's life gets shattered by a man who weilds a mighty pen that is mightier than the sword. Ten toes on the nose with savoir faire! It is only fitting that this story comes from a part of the world where people discovered writing quicker than the Sumerians did. It's not all jungle and waves down in Costa Rica, or the paradise that one surfer would be king in. That's what is in store for those who are determined to read, "Can't You Get Along With Anyone? by Allan C Weisbecker." It was well worth the journey.
