ring around the sun

Truly incredible view from Cambridge on Sunday. The ring around the sun was caused by ice crystals within thin cirrus clouds. The refraction causes light to shine into a ring.
Makes me wonder what ancient civilizations must of thought of all the wonders in nature that we can now explain with science.
It was truly amazing. Did anyone see this on Sunday?

I have never seen a photograph like that or this phenomenon in nature. It looks very cool. Thanks for posting this.
