Dr Kammen of Renewable Energy Lab says on 60 minutes that the U.S. could be energy independent of the mid east in 5 years.

Kammen said on CBS that ethanol would sell for about 75 cents a gallon and could be made from orange rinds, discards from paper pulp making, and prarie grass. (I bet dandalions could fuel our cars.)

He also said that U.S. oil companies have threatened him by telling him that oil prices could be reduced less than the cost of ethanol.
