Challenge yourself to be environmental

I realize this topic has been visited before but I would like to bring it to the forefront again.
Carbon dioxide emissions are a major contributor to global warming and the higher emissions correspond directly with resulting higher temperatures worldwide. The year 2005 was the hottest year ever recorded. The world is experiencing an irregular phenomenon ranging from glaciers disappearing and permafrost thawing to lakes and rivers drying up.
The extreme weather being experienced in so many areas is directly attributed to global warming and it is affecting plants, animals, insects and mankind. One of the greatest contributors to the millions of tonnes of CO2 emissions is fire.
Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth is based largely on fact with all the photos and film to back up its data. I challenge all the members of municipal and regional councils to rent or buy this film, and then pass it along to others. I challenge the public to do something for yourself and for your children's future; watch the film and take steps to change your consumption and your approach to everyday routines.
Kudos to the Stamford Volunteer Firemen for all their fundraisers and service work. But please - no more burning of Christmas trees, in Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake, or anywhere. For 2007, follow the example of the Niagara Parks Commission and mulch the trees instead.
Make sure you watch the film.
