The Chippewa-Ottawa Resource Authority recently sent strong letters to the U.S. Senate and House outlining their call for the prompt passage of ballast water legislation.
CORA urges:
· Establishment of a strong national program with stringent standards and a 4-year timeframe for implementation,
· Addition of enforcement and judicial review provisions to pending legislation as least as strong as those within the Clean Water Act,
· Closing a loophole that would allow a delay in implementation of treatment technology.
